P.Y. SIMPSON

P.Y. Simpson is an amazing artist who works in Ceramics and clay - including High Fire and Low Fire Ceramics, and Raku pottery.  His fun, colorful and three-dimensional pieces are a must for any fun loving art collector.  P.Y. is a talented artist who shows and sells out regularly at Phoenix Gallery at the corner of 18th & L Streets in Midtown Sacramento.  P.Y. works nights so he can dedicate as much time as possible to his art.  His sculptures are usually on display at Phoenix Gallery.

   In the Artist's own words:  

I began my journey in sculpture in 1976. This medium (ceramic) became my favorite form to express my artistic visions. I studied varying forms of ceramics through High Fire, Low Fire, and Raku. In 1996 I began showing my work.  Since then I’ve had shows and sold at galleries in Sacramento, Davis, Auburn, and San Francisco.  During this time I’ve challenged my own ideals of aesthetic and functional art.  I love to blur the distinction between the two.  All of the pieces I create are truly one of a kind.  All are hand sculpted and hand glazed. No molds are used.  Whether I’m creating functional or aesthetic art, I strive to find the essential uniqueness in the object I create. In a world of mass production and bar code sensibility, having anything that is truly one of a kind is a small treasure in itself.

Please note that this website is done on a volunteer basis (we usually only check the above email once a week) and we'll attempt to list everyone in as timely manner as possible! 

We will list artists alphabetically by last name.  Each month we will select one artist to be our featured artist for that month (must have a current show over that month's second Saturday).
